5 Steps To Building A Better Brand
Can we talk about branding for a second? It doesn’t matter if you’re just starting out or you’ve been running a company for years, building a strong brand for your business can result in major benefits, A.K.A, money, money, money. All it takes is a bit of creativity, effort, and yes, education.
1. Create A Killer Logo
An effective logo looks professional, intelligently displays what your business is all about, and uses minimal colours to display a clean design. You shouldn’t use more than 5 shades in your colour palette and the font you choose should be easy to read and one that isn't frequently used in elementary school projects (I’m begging you to never pick a terrible font like Comic Sans or Papyrus). Creating a logo yourself can work if you understand what makes a logo effective, but when inexperienced and trying to save money, you might make some common design mistakes so before even starting the project, make sure you know what you’re doing.
2. Use Professional Photography In Your Marketing
There are so many benefits to using professional photography to represent your business. For starters, it helps people trust you as being legitimate. If you have an SLR camera and know how to use it, great! If not, consider hiring a photographer. If you don’t have the ability to source out your own photography, there are plenty of beautiful stock images available for purchase all over the internet that can be styled to fit your brand, so use those instead. Poorly lit, noisy, or blurry photos should never be found with your name attached and with all of these other options, there’s simply no excuse for using bad images.
3. Don’t Be A Robot
An authentic brand voice is all about staying true to yourself. Write your content the way you talk; in your own, natural voice. Read what you’ve written out loud to make sure it sounds conversational and not robotic. If you try to write your blog, website, or social media content like someone else, your readers will notice and it’ll come off as fake; not genuine. If that’s the case, then they probably won’t be enticed to click on your other pages, which means they probably won’t choose your service. Find your own words that are right for you and stick to them!
4. Keep Your Branding Consistent
Keeping your brand consistent across all platforms is so important because it allows consumers to recognize your business before even seeing your name. It keeps you at a consumers’ top of mind so the next time they need a service like the one you’re offering, they’ll be more likely to choose you over the competition. People shop with brands they trust and know are dependable, so before posting anything, make sure all social media images, fonts, colours, and even your mood matches wherever it is you’re displaying yourself; Facebook, Instagram, blogs, logo, etc.
